Born in 2000, Tobin Wilton is a glass artist from Calgary, Alberta, whose life has been deeply intertwined with art. From an early age, Tobin worked alongside his father, Rick Wilton, creating glass and granite awards for Hockey Canada, Coca Cola, the Royal Canadian Mint and many more. The experience laid the foundation for his creative journey. His education at Calgary Arts Academy nurtured his passion for self-expression and experimentation, setting the stage for his evolution as an artist.
After facing challenges with severe atopic dermatitis, Tobin found solace and renewal in art. This pivotal journey back to creativity allowed him to embrace his vision, regain confidence, and create meaningful pieces that embody resilience and growth.
Nature serves as the cornerstone of Tobin's inspiration. Unforgettable backpacking adventures through places like Upper and Lower Kananaskis Lake, the Rockwall Trail, Abbott Hut, and the West Coast Trail have fostered a profound connection to the natural world, which is reflected in his work. Music further shapes his creative process, with color taking center stage in his artistry. Tobin's pieces explore the interplay of hues, capturing how they blend, transform, and interact with light to evoke a sense of life and connection.
Each of Tobin's creations is unique, featuring abstract designs that highlight the fluidity of the glass medium. His work invites viewers to experience the captivating relationship between form, color, and light, drawing them into a deeper connection with nature.
