Hubert Nanzer (1948 - 2018)   Artist Info
Original Works

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a member of our gallery family, Canadian artist, Hubert Nanzer. Hubert will be remembered not only for his incredible body of work depicting the majesty of the mountain ranges of the world but also for his intense passion for life. Drawing on his experiences from his extensive travels around the world, Hubert created luminous and powerful paintings of nature which simultaneously humbled and inspired us.

Artist Info

Born in Switzerland in 1948, Hubert has led an eclectic and dynamic life. After graduating from the Academy of Art in Lucerne, he ventured off on a three year travel excursion around the world, visiting almost 70 countries.

Settling in Calgary in 1978, Hubert developed an intense connection to the majesty and beauty of the Canadian Rockies. Each canvas reveals this connection through the skillful use of composition, scale and colour. Hubert conveys the mood and mystique of each landscape by what he refers to as “IMax Realism” - a visual technique that allows the viewer to not only see the landscape but experience it.
