Born in Saskatchewan, Bonny Houston blows hot glass into vibrant colors and forms. Houston’s unique pieces are each individually hand blown and her pieces can be seen in galleries from Victoria to Charlottetown and in the United States and Japan. Houston’s work is a fusion of Canadian and Japanese sensitivity. Before opening her Hot Shop studio in Calgary in 1994, Houston studied at the Sheridan College School of Design, The Tokyo Glass Art Institute and The Alberta College of Art and Design. Since 1982, Houston has been invited to present her work each year in Canada’s most prestigious exhibitions. Houston accepts custom orders and commissions for corporate awards.
Mission
“First you take the heart. Then you make the form and choose the colour. If the form is no good, the color doesn’t matter. If the heart is no good - nothing matters.”
